Worship

Why do we worship through music?

Throughout the Bible, we see music as a vital part of a believer's life. When the people of God in the Old Testament came together to glorify the Lord and respond to His work in their lives, there was always time set aside for corporate worship through music. In the New Testament, Christians are charged with, "...speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit and singing and making music from your heart to the lord (Ephesians 5:19)." Music is ingrained in our soul and is an important part of lifting up the name of Jesus. When we sing, we are unified by the blood of the Lamb. When we play our instruments to honor Him, we are reminded of the greatness of God in comparison to humanity. And when we lift our voices to sing about the God who saves, we are teaching ourselves and those around us about the truths of the gospel and the characteristics of the Lord. Music matters, and music played in the church is vitally important to the health of the people of God.
