Scripture calls for people to, “…make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth…come into his presence with singing!” (Psalm 100:1-2) We also see texts encouraging the church to, “…sing psalms and hymns and spiritual psalms.” (Colossians 3:16) During the Contemporary Worship service from 11:00am, that is what we seek to do as His people come together to Encounter God and corporately acknowledge His name and the work of His Son, Jesus Christ. We seek each Sunday to elevate the God who expressed His love first by the cross and provided a way for everlasting life. Using drums, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, piano, and so on, we lift our voices to praise the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Songs are chosen based not only on the melodies and guitar riffs or catchy piano arrangements, but also on the edification found in the lyrics.
However, visitors will not only see the music centered around Christ, but also in the transitional times in between songs. Whether there is a time of Scripture reading that seeks to exhort and admonish the congregation or a section of corporate prayer drawing the people of God together, every aspect of the worship experience strives to be Spirit-filled and focus on lifting up Jesus. Colossians 3:16 advises that the music and songs that are played in churches teach and admonish one another in wisdom. Worship should change us and and soften our hearts to the changing power of Christ, so that the Spirit can mold us into better stewards of God’s grace. The worship found in the Contemporary service seeks each Sunday to provide an atmosphere that is centered around making disciples for Jesus.
We welcome you to come and Encounter God with us on Sunday at 11:00am. If you have experience in playing an instrument or singing and would like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
