The Apostle Peter and His Easter Story From the Gospels and Peter’s Epistle

The Easter season is a great time of year to reflect on our lives and what the power of Christ and His resurrection are accomplishing. In the Gospels and Peter's New Testament epistle we look closely at Peter and how the Easter story unfolded throughout his life. There are many themes common in the lives of believers today.

Peter _________________________ Jesus. Matthew 16:13-18

Simon = “hearer, quick to hear.” Cephas = Aramaic for “rock.” Peter = Greek for “rock.”

Peter (Petros) is a stone cut out of the rock/ledge/quarry (Petra).

Verse 18 – “And I (Jesus) also say to you that you are Peter, a cut or fragment, and on this rock (ledge you are cut from), I will build my church . . .”
