Turning Blue Holidays Into a White Christmas

Christmas can be one of the most difficult times of the year emotionally for many people. Do you know the story of Irving Berlin’s song, “White Christmas,” the best selling Christmas song in America for the past 76 years? It is a song dealing with deep sorrow and hope. We talk about it to begin our message here.  Our advent this year at Faith Baptist is centered around Believe! If you will receive and believe the 3 truths of today’s words from the Gospel and first letter of the Apostle John it will turn blue holidays into a true White Christmas.

Turning Blue Holidays Into a White Christmas

John 1:1-5; 12:44-46; I John 1:1-9

Jesus Replaces Our Darkness With Light.    John 1:1-5

Jesus always existed alongside God, is God, and is the Word, the ___________________ and expression of God to us!

All creation was made by the Word in relationship with the Father and the Spirit.

Revelation of God began through creation since all creation reveals God (Psalm 19:1-6; Romans 1:19-20).

Life is man’s most important asset.  Ultimate life is spiritual life, __________________, received in Christ (John 3:3-6; II Corinthians 5:17).

Darkness (Satan – death, ignorance, sin and separation from God) resisted the light but was unable to overpower it.  Light shines, invading the dominion of darkness.

Jesus’ Light Replaces Our Emptiness With Purpose.   John 12:44-46

To receive Jesus and His light/revelation is to respond to _________.

To step into the light is to submit to God’s guidance, control and directions in my life for His purposes.

Walking In Light Replaces Our Loneliness With Fellowship.

I John 1:1-9

What are some common causes of loneliness?

To choose to walk in God’s light is to walk in His character and command.

This gives us ______________________________ with Him (verse 7) and with other light-walking believers (verses 3-4).

Every believer sins.  Thus, we must continually own our wrongdoing, bringing ourselves back in line with God’s character and commands.
