The Sanhedrin held power among the Jews, but the Romans and Pilate held complete power over Israel and the Sanhedrin. In John 18:28-38, we are reminded that Jesus reigns as King of Kings, and that His Kingdom is built on truth and the Kingdom of Heaven rather than on earthly realms.
