The church of Jesus usually flourishes when it is persecuted for being holy, set apart from the world, and uncompromising on Jesus and His Word. The church at Pergamum found acceptance and promotion in the world, and it embraced and even taught the deeds of the flesh and sensual pursuits of the world. Jesus’ commendation and His rebuke of the church at Pergamum are in Revelation 2:12-17.
