Understanding What Salvation Is and Isn’t

One of the most zealous, God-fearing, and scripturally knowledgeable men in all of Israel (Nicodemus) was exposed by Jesus as having misunderstood salvation and as not believing in a way that he was saved and no longer under God’s condemnation of sin. John 3:1-21 is perhaps one of the most important salvation passages in Scripture, and contains the one verse which summarizes salvation most completely (John 3:16).  May we understand what salvation is and isn’t as we study this passage.
